Abstract

After its abolition in the Cortes of Cadiz (1813), the Inquisition goes through several alternatives (new restorations and deletions) until its final abolition in 1834. In 1825, reports were requested about the status of Spain, and different measures to be taken were requested. Many bishops and archbishops demanded the restoration of Inquisition, although it seems it already had been restored by the decree of October 1, 1823.
