Abstract

Universities, like any other institutions, cannot subsist without the necessary funding able to achieve the proposed objectives. In the late 18th century, political circumstances are not favourable for the university, and consequently, universities begin to lose influence and incomes. The Real y Pontificia Universidad of Santa Rosa in Santiago de León in Caracas stood out for the lawsuits in the reviewing of their financial accounts during the late colonial period and the beginning of the independence period.
