The agony of the Inquisition in Valencia

The return of Fernando VII in 1814 entailed a comeback to the absolutism and its institutions, among which the Inquisition is to be found. Its re-establishment had to solve certain problems and had to manage the facing of a difficult economic situation due to the difficult juncture in which they lived. The Santo Oficio remained active in Valencia those years, above all because of the “comisión reservadísima”. Also, new appointments took place in its workforce.
