Abstract

This paper studies the phenomenon of reception of ius commune, focusing on the features adopted in the kingdom of Mallorca. Through its pages is analyzed the spread of Roman law throughout the XIII century, the official reception of the Ius Commune imposed by James II in 1300, and the evolution experienced in legal practice during modern times. It also analyzes the distinct role played by the two main elements of the Utrumque Ius -Roman and Canon Law- in shaping the Mallorcan legal order.
