Abstract

Neratius Priscus was consul in A.D. 97 and member of the council under Trajan and Hadrian. He was head of the Proculian school. His regulae (fifteen books), responsa (three books), epistulae (four books?) and membranae (seven books) are used in the Digest. The Membrana is a miscellany of notices which Neratius put together from his experience in giving responsa, teaching, attending the emperor and discussing legal problems. Membrana texts as containing problems of testamentary and intestate succession and in this article I will discuss some problems about the law of the succession.
