Abstract

Creating a constitutional framework that would allow the institutional role of the military forces to fit within the liberal state that Spain was trying to build after the War of Independence was one of the greatest challenges that constituents had to face in the first half of the century. The different constitutions, and other norms linked to the constitutional system, such as the Constitutional Law of the Army, of 1821, trying to find a design for this framework, which ceased to undergo modifications throughout the successive transitional processes.
