Abstract

The arrival of the Duke of Alba to the Netherlands was a before and after, not only for the relationship of the high nobility with the Hispanic monarch but also for the Protestant and Catholic population of these territories. Fray Lorenzo, a great connoisseur of the context of the Netherlands, advises Felipe II on the measures that must be taken to reestablish the Catholic faith and loyalty to the Hispanic monarch.
