The setting up of the first provincial diputaciónof Orense

Abstract

The Decree of 27th January 1822 carried out a new division of the Spanish territory that had important consequences for Galicia. For the first time, it was divided into four provinces and one of them would be Orense. The Provincial Council will govern this new constituency. This work focuses on explaining the beginnings of this institution, particularly its launch, and the most important functions it took on.
